PSG vs Bayern Munich Match Analysis & Prediction

14/02/2023 11:00 pm

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich will meet in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday at Parc des Princes.
PSG hopes that 2023 is the year they end their long wait for the Champions League trophy, while Bayern dreams of being crowned Europe’s champions for the seventh time.
After losing to Marseille in the Coupe de France, Paris Saint-Germain hoped to win when they played Monaco on Saturday.
But as it turned out, PSG lost 3-1, and all four goals were scored in the first half. The Parisians still lead Ligue 1 by five points, but losing two straight games isn’t ideal for a big match against Bayern Munich–who beat them in the 2020-21 Champions League final.
PSG would have preferred an easier opponent in the last 16, but even though they finished level on 14 points with Benfica (Portugal), they lost out on away goals scored.
Bayern Munich experienced a mini-crisis by their high standards when they returned from the winter break with three consecutive draws. Still, a sense of normalcy has been restored in Bavaria in recent weeks.
After defeating Mainz and Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga, respectively, Bayern warmed up for their midweek Champions League game with a comfortable 3-0 win over Bochum at the weekend thanks to Thomas Muller’s (2) and Kingsley Coman’s goals. Serge Gnabry also scored for Bayern.
