Oxford United vs Derby County Match Analysis & Prediction

22/10/2024 9:45 pm

Oxford United will be looking to push towards the Championship playoff spots with a victory over Derby County on Tuesday at the Kassam Stadium.
The hosts are in 11th position with 13 points from 10 league matches and are tied on points with Derby, who are 12th in the table and are five points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers, who occupy the final promotion playoff spot.
Oxford played out a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, a game in which the U’s trailed after 20 minutes before Dane Scarlett equalised in the second-half stoppage time.
The game itself was evenly contested, as many of Oxford’s recent matches have been given they have drawn their last four, coming from behind to earn a point in the three games prior to the stalemate with West Brom.
Des Buckingham’s side have drawn four and lost one of their last five matches in the Championship, winning three and losing two of the prior five games.
To Oxford’s credit, they have proven resilient at home considering they have drawn two and won four of their six most recent league games at the Kassam Stadium, and they have won five, drawn seven and lost just twice in their last 15 home games in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Derby played out a 1-1 draw with Millwall on Saturday, although they will perhaps be disappointed that they failed to take all three points given they had taken the lead through Jerry Yates in the 75th minute before conceding an equaliser just seven minutes later.
Paul Warne’s side have drawn one and won one of their two most recent matches, but they lost the previous three games by a cumulative score of 6-2.
Derby have lost four and drawn one of their five matches on their travels in the league this season, and inclusive of their last season in the Championship in 2022-23, they have lost 13 of their most recent away games.
Oxford United vs. Derby County Head to head
In the previous eight meetings between these two teams, Oxford have claimed three victories while Derby have won four, and they have drawn once. They have scored 10 goals each in the process.
