Oman vs Germany Match Analysis & Prediction
16/11/2022 12:00 am
Germany’s final match before the 2022 World Cup will see them take on Oman in an international friendly on Wednesday evening.
Captain, Hansi Flick, has named a strong squad for the game as he prepares his side for their tournament opener against Japan on November 23. The team will also take on Spain and Costa Rica in the competition’s group stage.
Oman’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup is not surprising, given that they have never reached the finals of a World Cup. In their Group B qualification section, which included Australia, China, and Kuwait, Oman finished fourth with 12 points—one point behind third-place Australia.
Although the Reds will certainly take encouragement from their campaign, it did not bring the desired outcome. Branko Ivankovic’s side won four games and drew two in their 10 qualification fixtures; their last competitive match was a 2-0 victory over China back in March.
They’ve played four friendlies since then—beating Nepal and Iraq before drawing with New Zealand and losing 1-0 against Jordan last time.
Germany, meanwhile, begins their World Cup campaign against Japan on November 23 before also taking on Spain and Costa Rica in the group stage of the competition.
The team finished third in the UEFA Nations League section and must have been disappointed with just seven points from six matches.
The last time they won more than two games in a row was back in September 2018, meaning they’ve drawn too many games of late and aren’t heading into the World Cup with ideal form.

Oman manager Ivankovic is expected to field a full squad for the match against the Netherlands, giving several players opportunities to impress. Abdulaziz Al-Muqbali has scored 30 times for his country and will likely be deployed in attack, while Arshad Al-Alawi and Harib Al-Saadi are expected to play in midfield. Both have over 50 caps, with Al-Saadi being the most experienced player in the squad.
