Oman will be looking to make a winning start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign when they host Chinese Taipei at Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex on Thursday.

Oman were on the receiving end of a comprehensive 4-0 defeat to the United States in a friendly game at Allianz Field on September 13.
That was a first defeat in five matches across all competitions for Branko Ivankovic’s side since they lost 3-0 to Uzbekistan in the group stage of the CAFA Cup in June.
Currently on a run of four wins and a draw from their last five matches at home, the Reds are huge favourites to secure a maximum here.
Chinese Taipei made it past the preliminary round of the World Cup qualifiers following a 3-0 victory over East Timor at the National Stadium on October 17.
Gary White’s side went into the break with the job all but done through first-half goals from Yu Chia-huang, Yen-shu Wu and Samuel Kouame.
The Blue Wings are now unbeaten in six of their last seven matches, which certainly makes for good reading ahead of the start of their World Cup campaign.
With three wins recorded from away matches leading up to Thursday’s contest, Chinese Taipei have been impressive on the road of late and will make the trip to Muscat with the wind in their sails.
