Nottingham Forest vs Leicester City Match Analysis & Prediction
14/01/2023 6:00 pm
After securing their spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals, Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action on Saturday, as Leicester City visit the City Ground.
While the hosts defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers on penalties in midweek after a 1-1 draw, the visitors were knocked out at the same stage by Newcastle United through a 2-0 scoreline.
Nottingham Forest have been afforded little time to celbrate their cup exploits as they return to the Premier League basement battle, but a 1-0 victory over Southampton through Taiwo Awoniyi’s winner last Wednesday put a bit more daylight between Forest and the drop zone.
Steve Cooper’s side enter the weekend’s round of fixtures in 15th place on 17 points, two points clear of Everton in the relegation zone, and recording three wins, one draw and two defeats from six post-World Cup matches certainly marks a mini turnaround in fortunes.
The Tricky Trees have now gone unbeaten in seven successive home matches across all competitions, during which time Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all failed to prevail.
Leicester City held out for an hour before Dan Burn finally broke the deadlock, and Joelinton made sure of the result 18 minutes from time to send the Foxes back to the King Power ruing what could have been, with Newcastle United progressing to the next stage of the EFL Cup.
Before travelling to Walsall in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Leicester now seek to end a three-game losing run in the Premier League, which leaves them in 13th place, just two points clear of the dotted line.
Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on December 30 represents the only time in their last nine Premier League matches that both teams have scored, and even then Wout Faes had to do the Reds’ dirty work for them, but travelling fans can take solace in the fact that the Foxes have impressively scored in each of their last 15 top-flight games away from home.

In the previous 67 meetings between these two sides across all competitions, Nottingham Forest have claimed 28 victories while Leicester City have won 23, and they have drawn in 16. Leicester have scored 92 goals and conceded 116 in the process.
