Fulham make a trip to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday, with both teams hpoing to extend their successfull Premier League runs.
Newcastle enter the contest riding high following their cup success in midweek, as victory over Leicester City secured a first semi-final appearance since 2005, which brought a much-needed confidence boost after going three matches without a win, including an FA Cup loss at Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday.
However, the Magpies are just about clinging onto a top four spots after back-to-back draws in the league, with both games finishing 0-0.
Fulham are the first team in the division to have reached the halfway mark of their respective season courtesy of the rearranged game with Chelsea on Thursday.
They made the most of it too by defeating their West London rivals 2-1 at Craven Cottage to leapfrog Liverpool into the top six.
Carlos Vinicius came up with the winner in Aleksandar Mitrovic’s absence as Andeas Pereira produced another wonderful assist, while Bernd Leno put in another strong performance in goal.
Marco Silva’s side were able to mak light work of Championship side Hull City, winning 2-0 in the FA Cup with a heavily rotated side in among four league victories.
