Nashville SC vs Chicago Fire Match Analysis & Prediction
19/09/2024 3:30 am
Nashville SC will be looking to halt their run of four successive home defeats when they take on the Chicago Fire at GEODIS Park on Thursday.
Nashville kept their hopes of securing a top-nine finish in the East alive as they secured an impressive 2-0 victory over Atlanta United when the two sides met at the weekend.
Alex Muyl gave the visitors a dream start at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as he opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before Hany Mukhtar doubled the advantage with a 76th-minute strike.
That was a much-needed result for B.J. Callaghan’s side, who had suffered defeat in each of their last 10 matches across all competitions – a run which saw them crash out of the Leagues’s Cup in the group stages after successive lossed to Mazatlan and New England Revolution in August.
Like Thursday’s hosts, Chicago Fire secured three huge points in their push for a playoff spot last weekend as they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field.
New York RB’s midfielder Dennis Gjengaar scored two minutes after the break to cancel out Tom Barlow’s 31st-minute opener, but Georgios Koutsias netted in the 75th minute to hand the hosts all three points.
Frank Klopas’ side have picked up 29 points from their 29 MLS matches so far to sit 13th in the Eastern Conference standings, level on points with Nashville and four off ninth-placed DC United in the coveted play-in spots.
