Nantes vs PSG Match Analysis & Prediction

17/02/2024 11:00 pm

Nantes will be looking to hand Paris Saint-Germain their first away defeat of the Ligue 1 campaign when the two sides meet at Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday.
The hosts won their first league match of 2024 last weekend, beating Toulouse 2-1, while PSG are starting to pull away at the top of the table, boasting an 11-point advantage over Nice following their 3-1 victory over Lille.
Sunday win was the first time since Nantes’ 1-0 victory over Nice on December 2 that this team had been ahead in a domestic game, while they are unbeaten since matchday one this season when scoring the opening goal.
Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side lost five of their six league matches during that slump, and they are now just three points above Lorient in the relegation playoff spot.
Coming into this match, Nantes have suffered four successive defeats across all competitions at Stade de la Beaujiore, failing to score in three of those games.
PSG’s victory last weekend was only the second time domestically this season that they had been behind, although it only lasted four minutes before drawing level and going ahead on 17 minutes following an own goal by Alexsandro.
There are still 17 matchdays remaining, but it already appears as though PSG have the league title sewn up, going unbeaten in 16 successive league matches, equalling their longest run without a defeat from the previous domestic campaign.
Luis Enrique’s side have won all four of their away matches across all competitions this year, scoring multiple times in each of those victories.
Nantes vs. PSG Head to head
In the 57 previous meetings between these two teams, Nantes have claimed 10 victories while PSG have won 38, and they have drawn in nine. PSG have scored 105 goals and conceded 40 in the process.
