Moreirense and FC Porto return to action in the fourth round of the Taca de Portugl when they meet at the Parque Despotivo Comendador Joaquin de Almeida Freitas on Sunday night.
This will be the second cup tie between these two teams within the lasst four weeks, with the Dragoes securing a comfortable victory in their Taca da Liga quarter-final clash on October 30.
Moreirense turned in a resilient display in their final game before the international break as they scored three goals in a 22-minute spell against Gil Vicente to overturn a two-goal deficit at the Parque de Jorgos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas.
Tidjany Toure and Jorge Aguirre both hit the target to put the visitors in a comfortable two-goal lead heading into the final half hour, but Guilermo Schettine, Dinis Pinto and Luis Asue all scored in a 27-minute spell to turn the game around.
Moreirense now turn their attention to the Taca de Portugal, where they avoided an upset in their opening game as they fought back from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over third-tier Uniao Santarem in the third round on October 19 through goals from Bernado Martins and Schettine.
Meanwhile, Porto suffered back-to-back defeats from the first time since October 2023 as they were beaten 4-1 by rivals Benfica in the latest ediction of the heated O Classico just before the international break.
Alvaro Carreras and Samuel Omorodin both scored to end the first half all square before Angel Di Maria netted either side of Nehuen Perez’s 61st-minute own goal to fire Benfica to an emphatic win.
Having secured a 2-1 extra-time victory over Sporting Lisbon in the final back in May, Wanderson Galeno, Ivan Jaime and Tiago Djalo all scored at the Estadio Jose Gomes to hand Porto a dream start to their title defence.
