Monaco vs Ajaccio Match Analysis & Prediction
15/01/2023 7:05 pm
Monaco will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they play host to Ajaccio in Ligue 1 at Stade Louis II on Sunday.
Wins in their first two matches back after the World Cup against Auxerre and Brest moved Monaco well into Champions League contention as 2023 began, but their Coupe de France tie with second-tier Rodez last week saw them crash out at the first hurdle in dramatic fashion.
In midweek, an injury-time equaliser from Wissam Ben Yedder was needed to save them at Lorient, as defeat would have seen their opponents overtake them in the table.
As it stands though, Monaco remain fifth, five points adrift of third-placed Marseille in the final Champions League qualification spot.
Ajaccio will have been pleased to put up a better fight despite falling to defeat against Reims on Wednesday, which came after a poor display at Toulouse that saw them lose 2-0 while registering just one shot in the entire 90 minutes.
A victory over bottom-placed Angers on their return to action is what is currently keeping the team out of the bottom four, as Brest sit just one point behind them in 17th.
Olivier Pantaloni’s side are still suffering from a poor start that saw them pick up just one point from their opening seven matches.
Monaco vs. Ajaccio Head to head
In the previous 13 meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Monaco have claimed nine victories while Ajaccio have won two and they have drawn twice. Ajaccio have scored 15 goals and conceded 29 in the process.

Monaco Team News
Kevin Volland has managed a goal every other game for Monaco this season, but he is their only current absentee with a rib injury.
After starting on the bench against Lorient and came in to score the late equaliser, Ben Yedder should return to the starting XI on Sunday.
