Milton Keynes Dons vs Leicester City Match Analysis & Prediction
20/12/2022 10:45 pm
Leicester City will be looking to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup when they travel to the Stadium MK to take on Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday.
The Foxes have defeated Stockport County and Newport County to progress to this stage of the competition, while MK Dons have gotten the better of Sutton United, Watford and Morecambe.
Unlike Leicester, the Dons have not had a break in their season for the World Cup, so the hosts will be in better shape in terms of match rhythm heading into the contest.
Liam Manning got sacked as head coach for MK Dons on December 11 following a disappointing start to the season, with long-serving defender Dean Lewington currently in charge on an interim basis.
Lewington has been in charge of the club for two matches, the 4-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers on December 13, in addition to the 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in the league on Saturday.
MK Dons have been in impressive form in the EFL Cup this season, defeating Sutton, Wartford and Morecambe without conceding a goal, and they will now be looking to claim a Premier League scalp in the shape of Leicester City.
Meanwhile, Leicester have not been in competitive action since a 2-0 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League on November 12, which moved them into 1th place in the table.
There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a tough season for Leicester to date, but the Foxes won their three matches ahead of the break for the World Cup, which also included a league victory at Everton.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had seven players in action at the 2022 World Cup, with Danny Ward, James Maddison, Nampalys Mendy, Wout Faes, Daniel Amartey, Youri Tielemans and Timothy Castagne involved at the tournament, but all seven could be available on Tuesday.
Leicester have actually won the League Cup on three occasions, with their last victory coming back in 2000, defeating Tranmere Rovers in the final of the competition.
Milton Keynes Dons vs. Leicester City Head to head
These two teams have previously met on just four occasions in two competitions, where Leicester have claimed two victories while they have drawn twice. Leicester have scored six goals and conceded two in the process.
