Millwall vs Wigan Athletic Match Analysis & Prediction

Kolo Toure begins his managerial career on Saturday afternoon as Wigan Athletic make the trip to face Millwall in the Championship. The Latics sit in 22nd place in the standings following a string of poor performances, while Millwall remained in the seventh spot after losing to Sunderland last weekend.
After serving as an assistant manager at Celtic and Leicester City, Youssouf Toure has been eager to show his coaching style since being named manager at Wigan Athletic.
He gets that chance after Leam Richardson was fired in the middle of a long-term contract. The temporary coaches have led Wigan to two wins, including one over Blackpool that helped keep them ahead of Blackburn Rovers in 22nd place.
However, Toure must find a way to keep that consistency against other teams in the North-West Division. The only other win was against Blackburn Rovers.
The Lions travelled to Sunderland for their match and returned with a 3-0 defeat. Gary Rowett’s team has only won once in five outings, but they are still just two points behind fourth-placed Watford.
On some level, it is a case of what could have been, given their recent inconsistent form, but Rowett will have few complaints with their current placing as they bid to make the playoffs come the end of the season.
At a time when Wigan has failed to win any of their last five away fixtures, Millwall is unbeaten in their most recent five games at The Den.

Millwall Team News
Despite Millwall’s poor performance during the second half against Sunderland last weekend, it is unlikely that Rowett will make dramatic changes to his team selection.
However, several players on the bench for most of this campaign are likely to be included in the starting lineup, including Scott Malone and Jamie Shackleton.

Wigan Athletic Team News
Wigan Athletic, who won their last game against Blackpool 2-1, should have Will Keane and Nathan Broadhead back in contention after they missed the match.
Jack Whatmough should retain his place in defence, provided he has fully recovered from the hamstring injury sustained during that game.
Ben Amos, Ryan Nyambe, Tom Pearce, and Jason Kerr are all expected to be out of contention regarding starting roles for this encounter.
