Millwall vs Burnley Match Analysis & Prediction

21/02/2023 10:45 pm

Burnley make a trip to The Den to face Millwall on Tuesday looking to further strengthen their position at the top of the Championship table.
However, despite their dominance in first place, Burnley face opponents who occupy sixth spot and possess at least one game in hand.
Having not recorded back-to-back victories since October, Millwall have never been regarded as favourites to make the playoffs, yet they have the potential to go as high as fourth if they succeed in their game in hand.
Millwall have won five of their last nine matches in the league, always following a win with a draw or defeat, and they will not want that pattern to continue.
On Saturday, Gary Rowett’s side recorded one of their results of the season, Tom Bradshaw scoring a hat-trick to guide his side to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Sheffield United.
Rowett’s side have now avoided defeat at their home ground since September 14, a run that involves 10 games, while thay also boast the best defensive record on familiar territory in the division.
In four of their last six league matches, Burnley have scored pivotal goals in the final 20 minutes of games, strikes which have led to Vincent Kompany’s side establishing an 11-point lead over Sheffield United.
The latest occurence came on Saturday as a 78th-minute Ashley Barnes penalty secured a 1-0 victory at Luton Town, moving the Clarets ever nearer to securing promotion with multiple matches to spare.
Burnley make the trip to The Den having won 11 of their last 12 matches in the Championship, although that run will be put to the test by their hosts.
