Millwall vs Bristol City Match Analysis & Prediction

29/12/2022 10:45 pm

Millwall will be seeking to retain their playoff spot and keep their promotion push on the track when the host Bristol City at The Den on Thursday in the Championship.
While the Robins are experiencing a very tough patch in their campaign, Millwall supporters are in dreamland after beating rivals Watford on Boxing Day.
Millwall have lost just twice in their last 12 Championship matches, with their most recent game ending in a 2-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday.
That victory moved the Lions into sixth place in the league standings by the end of play on Boxing Day, with Gary Rowett’s current crop of players seeming more capable offensively than the ones who have failed to finish in the top six over the past three seasons.
Meanwhile, Bristol City have now won just one of their last nine matches across all competitions after suffering a defeat to West Bromwich Albion at Ashton Gate on Boxing Day.
Nigel Pearson admitted that his side were second best for the majority of the proceedings in Somerset and understood some of the discontent from fans which was directed towards him.
That defeat has left Bristol City in 18th place in the league table, just two points ahead of Blackpool, who occupy the highest of the relegation spots, meaning the importance of the upcoming contest against Millwall cannot be overstated.
The Robins have suffered from Austrian Andreas Weimann not reaching the performance levels of his 22-goal season of the last campaign, with the 31-year-old occasionally being left out of the starting lineup all together by Pearson.

Bristol City Team News
Andy King is a doubt for Bristol City after being forced off with a knock in the second half on Boxing Day, and Pearson could be forced to start Robert Atkinson.
The medical team at Ashton Gate are wary of rushing Tomas Kalas back from his calf injury too quickly, meaning that he is unlikely to feature in this contest.
