Middlesbrough vs Luton Town Match Analysis & Prediction
10/12/2022 6:00 pm
Middlesbrough and Luton Town will meet on Saturday afternoon, separated by only three points in the Championship standings.
Middlesbrough’s fortunes improved when Michael Carrick took charge shortly before the World Cup break; now they host a Rob Edwards-managed Luton side for the first time.
Since being appointed Middlesbrough manager in October, Michael Carrick has made a positive start to life at the Riverside Stadium.
After Chris Wilder was sacked with the team in disarray, the North Yorkshire side has eased fears of a potential relegation battle and has pulled clear of the bottom three. Indeed, they are only four points adrift of the playoff places.
Though such momentum may have dissipated over the four-week hiatus, Carrick has kept things ticking by implementing his methods on the training ground with players not required on international duty and oversaw a 2-0 friendly win over Hibernian last month.
Luton Town has won half of their away matches this season and has the fourth-best record in the league.
This bodes well for the club, who is under new management. Former manager Mick Harford stepped into the breach at Kenilworth Road in June when Nathan Jones departed for Southampton.
However, he oversaw a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United before the World Cup break. Luton can still reach 11th place if they win enough games and could reach a playoff position if results go their way.

Despite having a long break between competitive games, manager Michael Carrick will likely keep changes to a minimum on Saturday.
Riley McGree played a major role in Australia’s run to the World Cup last-16. Still, it remains to be seen whether the versatile forward will feature this weekend, as Championship Player of the Month nominee Chuba Akpom could start.
