Wellington will look to maintain their top-half spot in the Australia A-League when they travel to Marvel Stadium stadium to take on rock-bottom Melbourne Victory in their Matchday 15 tie on Friday night.
Melbourne Victory have made a disappointing campaign in the A-League this season, with the side collecting only 11 points from 13 fixtures to sit rock-bottom in the standings.
They are currently some seven points away from the top half of the league and they will want to get closer or into the top half before the second-phase of the campaign. They have been in a poor form though and will need o turn things around as soon as possible. Anthony Popovic’s have failed to win any of their last sis league matches, losing five times in the process – including 2-1 o Sydney at home last time out.
Wellington, on the other hand, have made an impressive campaign in the A-League this season and are currently sitting third on 21 points from 14 fixtures. Seven points separate them and the top of the league Melbourne City and are three points above seventh-placed Perth.
They will be eyeing a top half finish in the first phase of the campaign and seem to be on the right trajectory. They have gone unbeaten in their last four league fixtures claiming three victories and drawing one, which came last tome out at home against Perth.
They will be looking to quickly return to winning ways and should be confident to take out a struggling Melbourne Victory side. However, this fixture favors the home side in most encounters an Wellington should be on top of their game.
