Marseille vs Monaco Match Analysis & Prediction
28/01/2023 11:00 pm
Marseille will be looking to extend their lead at Ligue 1 when they host Monaco at Stade Velodrome on Saturday. The two sides have taken the most points in the league since the domestic campaign resumed last month; Marseille has 12 points, and Monaco has 10.
After their disappointing Champions League exit, Marseille has been on a tear. They are unbeaten in eight matches and are well-positioned to claim a place in Europe next season.
They are currently on 42 points, two behind Lens for second and five back of the leaders, Paris Saint-Germain.
A season ago, they were among the top defensive units in the French top flight, and that has continued into 2022-23, with OM conceding just 16 goals so far.
Monaco’s 7-1 win over Ajaccio last weekend was their largest margin of victory in the top flight since they crushed Guingamp 6-0 in November 2017.
The club is located along the French Riviera, and Les Monegasques have won 10 of their 14 games played in this competition since September, with PSG being the only team who have done better throughout that span.
They are winless in their seven domestic encounters against teams currently positioned in the top seven, one of which was versus Lorient, who they drew 2-2 in their previous away fixture.
Marseille vs. Monaco Head to head
Both sides have 26 games against each other with hosts taking nine wins while visitors with twelve wins and five draws.
