Mallorca vs Real Sociedad Match Analysis & Prediction

17/09/2024 8:00 pm

Real Sociedad will be looking to end a three-game winless run when they travel to Estadi Mallorca Son Moix for Tuesday’s La Liga encounter with Mallorca.
Mallorca will be in a downbeat mood after they conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 in Saturday’s home encounter with Villarreal.
Jagoba Arrasate’s side looked well set to pick up at least a point after Raul Albiol’s 57th-minute own goal cancelled out Logan Costa’s first-half opener.
However, Mallorca’s task increased in difficulty when Toni Lato was shown a straight red card in the 69th minute, and while they did their utmost to hold on to a draw, their resitance was eventually broken by Ayoze Perez’s stoppage-time winner.
Not only will Arrasate be frustrated with Saturday’s result, but he will be disappointed by the fact that his tenure has started with just one win in five matches, with that solitary victory coming against newly-promoted Leganes on matchday four.
Mallorca are also one of six teams yet to win a home La Liga match this season after drawing home games against Real Madrid and Sevilla before Saturday’s defeat to Villarreal.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad have endured a disappointing start to the campaign, having won one, drawn one and lost three of their opening five league games.
Imanol Alguacil’s side will be particularly frustrated with the fact that they have lost all three of their home matches this season, including Saturday’s encounter with reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid.
La Real struck the woodwork on three occasions before Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe converted their respective penalties as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory to condemn Real Sociedad to a third successive head-to-head defeat.
Having seen his side score three goals in five matches, Alguacil will know that his side need to improve in the final third if they are to move up the table and challenge for a sixth successive top-six finish.
Mallorca vs. Real Sociedad Head to head
In the previous 39 meetings between these two teams, Mallorca have claimed 13 victories while Real Sociedad have won 21, and they have drawn in five. Real Sociedad have scored 49 goals and conceded 38 in the process.
