Malaga will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Segunda Division on Thursday when they play host to Granada at Estadio La Rosaleda.
The hosts are currently sitting in 21st place in the Segunda Division standings on 14 points from 18 matches played, four points adrift of the safety of 18th place, and just two above bottom-placed side Ibiza.
Pepe Mel’s side enter th contest off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Levante in their last league match at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, which saw their three-game unbeaten run come to an end, with Iborra scoring the only goal of the game for the hosts.
The Boquerones have recorded two victories, three draws and three defeats this season in eight Segunda Division matches at home, while they have won one, drawn two and lost three of their last six league matches, which highlights how they need to improve of their performances if they are to avoid a relegation battle or a possible drop from the second tier this season.
Meanwhile, Granada came out on top 3-1 against Deportivo Alaves at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, which has left them in seventh spot on 28 points through 18 matches, six points behind current league leaders Las Palmas.
However, Aitor Karanka’s side will be looking to address a poor run of results on their travels this season, having recorded two draws, six defeats and just one win in league away matches.
They are currently on an eight-game winless streak on the road – drawing two and losing six – and they have not won away since August 14 against basement side Ibiza.
Nevertheless, Granada won the last Segunda Division match between these two sides, claiming a 1-0 victory at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in April 2019, with Antonio Puertas scoring the only goal of the game in the fifth minute.
