Leeds United vs Cardiff City Match Analysis & Prediction

A spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup is at stake when Leeds United and managerless Cardiff City meet in a third-round replay at Elland Road on Wednesday.
The Whites came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with their Championship counterparts two weekends ago, and encounters with Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley awaits the winners from this contest.
A cup run would be welcomed with open arms by the Leeds fanbase, but Jesse Marsch has bigger fish to fry in the Premier League, with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday leaving Leeds 14th in the standings and just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Having failed to win any of their competitive matches since the World Cup break, Leeds’ winless run across all competitions now stands at seven matches since their dramatic 4-3 victory over Bournemouth on November 5.
The Whites have scored nine goals and conceded 11 in their last four competitive matches at Elland Road, but they are now at risk of going out in the third round of the FA Cup for the sixth year running, having failed to preogress further since their 2016-17 fourth-round exit to Sutton United.
The four-goal stalemate with Leeds was the latest in a long line of draws for Cardiff, who also claimed a point from their weekend Championship contest against Wigan Athletic, where they were once hit with a stoppage-time goal as Callum O’Dowda’s effort was cancelled out by Will Keane six minutes into added time.
Saturday’s draw proved to be the final straw for Mark Hudson, who has been sacked after overseeing a nine-game winless run.
Dean Whitehead takes temporary charge of Cardiff, who have six draw to show from their last seven across all competitions and sit 21st in the Championship table as a result, and they have made a habit of going out in the third round and then the fourth round of the FA Cup since 2016.
Leeds United vs. Cardiff City Head to head
In the previous 33 meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Leeds have claimed six victories while Cardiff have won 18, and they have drawn in nine. Cardiff have scored 50 goals and conceded 30 in the process.
