Lazio vs Bologna Match Analysis & Prediction

Buoyed by a fine midweek victory in Europe, Lazio return to Serie A duty on Sunday afternoon, when they play host to high-flying Bologna at Stadio Olimpico.
While Lazio beat Bayern Munich last time out, Bologna also won on Wednesday and sit two points clear of their hosts in the Serie A standings.
It has not been plain sailing in Serie A for Lazio this season, as they only ended a three-game winless run with last week’s victory at Cagliari and sit five points adrift off the all-important top four.
Sitting eighth following their 3-1 victory in Sardinia, Lazio are embroiled in a multi-club battle for European qualification, and this week’s opponents are among several teams standing between them and a Champions League return.
While they have lost half of their away matches this season, Lazio tend to thrive at home, with six wins and just two losses from 11 league games – in addition to their exploits in continental competition.
Victorious at Stadio Dall’Ara in November’s reverse fixture, when Lewis Ferguson scored the only goal just after halftime, Bologna also held Lazio to a goalless draw in their previous encounter earlier last year.
Bologna can arrive in the capital confident of extending that run, having bounced back from a January wobble by scoring no fewer than 10 goals in three February games so far.
After beating Sassuolo and Lecce, Thiago Motta’s side stepped up in class on Wednesday, when a 2-0 victory over fellow top-four contenders Fiorentina confirmed their credentials as serious candidates for Europe.
A run of three wins and a draw from four home matches has helped the Rossoblu climb to fifth position in the Serie A standings, although having played one game more than Lazio.
However, a record of just one wins, seven draws and three losses on their travels demonstrates that they are not always as fluent away from Dall’Ara.
Lazio vs. Bologna Head to head
In the 48 previous meetings between these two teams, Lazio have claimed 25 victories while Bologna have won 12, and they have drawn in 11. Bologna have scored 51 goals and conceded 73 in the process.
