In a game where Scott Pitman and Mark O’Hara both received their marching orders, Cristian Montano and Curtis Main scored for either side in the second half to share the points.
Steve Robinson’s side had previously ended their four-game winless run on Christmas Eve when they claimed a 3-1 victory over 10-man Aberdeen through goals from O’Hara, Greg Kiltie and an own goal from Kelle Ross.
With 25 points from 19 matches, the Saints are currently fifth in the Premiership table, level on points with sixth-placed St Johnstone, although with two games in hand.
