Kayserispor vs Istanbul Basaksehir Match Analysis & Prediction
02/02/2023 5:00 pm
Istanbul Basaksehir will be looking to keep pace in the Super Lig title race when the meet with Kayserispor at the RHG Enerturk Stadium on Thursday.
Although Basaksehir lead Konyaspor by 11 points in the table, the hosts will fancy their chances of closing the gap after beating Istanbulspor 4-2 last time out.
Kayserispor have now won three of their last four matches across all competitions, but they ahve lost four of their last seven, and they have not drawn a game since October, posting six wins and five losses across their previous 11 encounters.
It is also worth noting that Kayserispor have lost three of their last four home matches in the Super Lig, suffering defeats to Konyaspor, Fatih Karagumruk and Besiktas, although they did manage a remarkable 4-1 victory over Sivasspor in mid-January.
Kayserispor’s league record of nine wins, two draws and nine losses shows everything about their inconsistency this season, so Basaksehir are likely to approach Thursday’s contest with caution.
Basaksehir began their Super Lig campaign with a seven-game unbeaten run, posting five wins and two draws to rekindle memories of their 2019-20 title victory.
Although Emre Belozoglu’s side have struggled for consistency since then, recording seven wins, two draws and four defeats in their past 13 league matches, they remain in contention for the title despite Galatasaray’s intense form.
The Grey Owls have suffered just one defeat in their last 11 matches across all competitions, and they find themselves in the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup following victories over Goztepe and Karagumruk.
Having conceded 20 goals in as many Super Lig matches, Belozoglu’s side boast the second-best defensive record in the division this season, meaning that Kayserispor will have to be at their best to get past Basaksehir’s backline.
Kayserispor vs. Istanbul Basaksehir Head to head
In the 35 previous meetings between these two sides across all competitions, Kayserispor have claimed 12 victories while Basaksehir have won 13, and they have drawn in 10. Basaksehir have scored 33 goals and conceded 28 in the process.
