Juventus Women vs Zurich Women Match Analysis & Prediction

15/12/2022 8:45 pm
Juventus Women will be looking to claim their second victory of the Women’s Champions League group stage when they take on Zurich Women on Thursday.
The hosts, who are currently sitting in third place, are two points adrift of second-placed Lyon, while Zurich have already been eliminated after losing all four of their group matches.
Juventus kicked off the group stage campaign with a 2-0 victory over Zurich, but they failed to build upon that result, pikcing up two points from their last three European matches.
After playing out 1-1 draws against Lyon and Arsenal, the Italian champions were narrowly beaten in their revers fixture against the Gunners last week.
A goal from Vivianne Miedema in the first half condemned Juventus to a 1-0 defeat, which has left them with work to do if they are to reach the quarter-finals.
Juventus will at least head into Thursday’s contest in a confident mood after claiming a 4-2 victory over Serie A leaders Roma at the weekend to reduce the gap at the top of the table to three points.
Joe Montemurro’s side now have the chance to claim consecutive victories, and if they manage to win on Thursday, they head into their final group fixture against Lyon with the opportunity to progress to the Champions League knockout stages.
While Juventus are seeking to finish in the top two, Zurich know that they will exit the Champions League once the group stage has been concluded.
Zurich have lost all four of their group matches, conceding 12 goals and scoring on just one occasion in the process, during a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
In their most recent game against Lyon, the Swiss side managed to keep the deficit to just one goal for over 60 minutes, before a brace from Melvine Malard and a stoppage-time goal from Delphine Cascarino helped the French side claim a 4-0 victory.
With the Swiss Women’s Super League on a winter break, Zurich have had a week toprepare for this contest, and although they cannot reach the knockout stages, they will want to avoid finishing the group stage without a point to their name.
However, holding Juventus to at least a draw may prove tough, as Zurich have lost their last 10 matches in the main draw of the Champions League.
