Istanbul Basaksehir vs Pendikspor Match Analysis & Prediction
27/11/2023 8:00 pm
Istanbul Basaksehir play host to Pendikspor on Monday night in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides in the Turkish Super Lig.
Basaksehir’s season is still yet to take off after a poor start, as they remain in the relegation zone and cannot move out of it this weekend.
Emre Belozoglu was replaced by Cagdas Atan early in the season, and after losing five of their first six matches, it seemed as though Basaksehir were getting back on track with three straight clean sheets in October.
However, results have not picked up, as they have picked up just two points from a possible 12, drawing three blanks in that period.
Konyaspor’s 2-0 victory over Kasimpasa on Saturday has extended the gap to four points between Basaksehir and safety.
That result also saw Konyaspor leapfrog Pendikspor in the standings, meaning they are now hovering just above the relegation zone.
However, the newly-promoted side are performing above expectations, as recent weeks have brought a very impressive set of results.
Only the top two – Fenerbahce and Galatasaray – and Sivasspor have picked up more points away from home than Pendikspor this season.
That is helped massively by the fact that Ivo Vieira’s side have won their last two on the road, a 2-1 victory at Konyaspor before beating Istanbulspor 4-2.
Pendikspor also secured their first home victory of the season in their last game, beating Samsunspor 1-0 to lift themselves four points clear of the relegation zone heading into the international break.
