Istanbul Basaksehir vs Fenerbahce Match Analysis & Prediction

19/04/2023 8:30 pm

Fenerbahce will aim to keep their Super Lig title hopes alive when they face Istanbul Basaksehir at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium on Wednesday night.
Trailing league leaders Galatasaray by six points, Fenerbahce have won five of their last six league matches, while Basaksehir have managed to win just one of their previous seven.
Basaksehir find themselves fifth in the Turkish Super Lig standings; 15 points behind second-placed Fenerbahce, following a 1-0 defeat at Istanbulspor on Saturday.
Emre Belozoglu’s side have now lost four of their last seven league matches, recording just one victory along the way, with defeats to Kayserispor, Alanyaspor and Besiktas preceding last weekend’s loss.
Not only have Basaksehir won four of their last five home league matches, but they have also won six of their previous eight, while a 1-0 victory over Ankaragucu earlier this month marked their eighth home clean sheet of the season.
The Grey Owls have won just two of their last 10 matches across all competitions, but they are invariably difficult to beat on their own turf.
Fenerbahce head into the midweek contest off the back of a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ankaragucu, through last-gasp goals from Enner Valencia and Miguel Crespo.
Ali Sowe gave the visitors the lead on 80 minutes before Valencia equalised from the penalty spot moments later, setting the stage for substitute Crespo to score a 96th-minute winner.
Jorge Jesus’ side may have outscored Galatasaray by seven goals, but they still find themselves six points behind their cross-city rivals, despite a run of eight victories in 10 league games for Fenerbahce.
It is also worth noting that the Yellow Canaries have won six of their last seven away league matches, so they will be confident of halting Basaksehir’s impressive home run.
Istanbul Basaksehir vs. Fenerbahce Head to head
In the 33 previous meetings between these two teams, Basaksehir have claimed 13 victories while Fenerbahce have won 16, and they have drawn in four. Fenerbahce have scored 50 goals and conceded 38 in the process.
