Inter Milan vs Cagliari Match Analysis & Prediction

After inching closer to the Serie A title last time out, Inter Milan will go in search of three more points on Sunday, when in-form Cagliari visit Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
A second-half comeback helped Inter beat Udinese and maintain their huge lead in the Serie A standings, while Cagliari also turned things around to defeat Atalanta BC.
Indebted to Davide Frattesi’s last-gasp winner in Udine, irrepressible Inter were victorious again on Monday, extending their unbeaten run to 25 matches in Serie A, of which they have won no fewer than 21.
Inter hold a 14-point advantage over AC Milan, and lead Juventus by 20, so with just seven games left to play – even if Milan take maximum points – the Nerazzurri need onlyy eight more to seal the deal.
The prospect of doing so against their city rivals in the upcoming Derby della Madonnina is too tantalising for most fans to even imagine, while Simone Inzaghi’s well-drilled squad cannot countenance letting their minds stray so far ahead.
Instead, taking care of business against Cagliari is first on the agenda, and with another victory, they would also become the first team ever to reach 85 points at this stage of a Serie A season.
Beaten 2-0 at home in August’s reverse fixture, Caliari have also lost four of their last five league matches against Inter at San Siro, picking up just one point for their troubles.
However, Claudio Raniari’s current side are in their best form of the season, ahead of a tough trip to one of their manager’s many former clubs.
After trailing at halftime, Cagliari fought back strongly to topple European contenders Atalanta last week, when Nicolas Viola scored his fourth Serie A goal this season and snatched maximum points late on.
Cagliari have now lost just one of their last seven matches, after losing four times in a row beforehand, and an upturn since the start of March has seen them climb four points clear of the relegation zone.
While only Frosinone have collected fewer points on the road this season, the Rossoblu have conceded less than a goal per game on average in their last three away games, to bring safety within sight.
Inter Milan vs. Cagliari Head to head
In the 53 previous meetings between these two teams, Inter have claimed 30 victories while Cagliari have won seven, and they have drawn in 16. Cagliari have scored 55 goals and conceded 106 in the process.

Inter’s top scorer with 23 goals, and the red-hot favourites to be crowned Capcannoniere next month, Lautaro Martinez will be missing from the lineup on Sunday, as he serves a one-game suspension.
The captain makes way for Marko Arnautovic or Alexis Sanchez, either of whom will parter Marcus Thuram up front.

Cagliari Team News
Cagliari will travel to San Siro without Alessandro Deiola and Nahitan Nandez (both suspended), plus injured trio Leonardo Pavoletti, Andrea Petagna and Marco Mancosu.
Inter-owned forward Gaetano Oristanio will hope to retain his place in the final third, but Raniari is notorious for his frequent squad rotation.
