04/01/2023 11:00 pm
Barcelona will be bidding to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey when they make the trip to Spanish third-tier outfit Intercity on Wednesday night.
The visitors are the most successful side in the history of this competition, having lifted it 31 times previously, most recently during the 2020-21 campaign.
The Primera Division RFEF – Group 2 outfit recorded a 1-0 victory over Cirbonero in the first round on November 13, before notching up a 2-0 success against Mirandes in the last round on December 20.
Oriol Soldevila opened the scoring for the home side after seven minutes of play before Miguel Mari doubled their advantage just past the hour mark.
Mirandes were eliminated from the competition as a result of their loss, while Intercity will now turn their attentions to league action with a trip to face Amorebieta next up on December 17.
Gustavo Siviero’s side then hosts Eldense three days later in what will be their next outing in the Primera Division RFEF – Group 2.
Barcelona took the lead in the Barcelona derby. Still, Joselu equalised for Espanyol in the 73rd minute, and the points were ultimately shared, taking Xavi’s side back to the top of the table.
Barcelona has won this competition 31 times and reached the final on 11 occasions, but this season they will be focusing on league and European success.
Barcelona faces a tough football week when they take on Atletico Madrid in La Liga on January 8 before facing Real Betis in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup three days later.

Inter City CF Team News
Since their last action on October 31, Intercity has not reported any fresh injury concerns. The team will likely start Wednesday night’s match in the same formation (5-3-2) that it used during its last match, a 2-0 victory over Mirandes in the Copa del Rey on October 31.
Soldevila and Pol Rioge should be on the attack, while Cristian Herrera is likely to start as one of the two midfielders for Intercity.
