Huracan and Godoy Cruz are separated by just one point in the upper echelon of the Argentine Primera Division standings, and they square off at the Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco on Wednesday with kickoff at 3:30 am.
On Sunday, Huracan and Union played to a disappointing draw. Franco Calderon was sent off for Union, but that didn’t change the outcome of the game. Huracan were unable to score even with a one-man advantage (10 vs. 11).
Both teams left the field at the end of 90 minutes with their share of the points. The draw ended Huracan’s three-game winning streak, which included victories over Colon, River Plate, and Lunus.
Overall, Huracan are now seven matches unbeaten (4 wins and three draws) since losing their opening match 2-0 to Racing Club on June 5.
Godoy Cruz, who won 2-1 at home to Lanus last time out, are unbeaten in six consecutive outings since June’s 1-0 loss to Rosario Central. They have won each of their most recent four games, including a 3-1 victory over Lanus in the round of 32 of the Copa Argentina on July 13.
Godoy Cruz have picked up five wins, one draw and lost two of their eight Primera Division games so far to collect 18 points and sit top of the standings. They are one point above visitors Huracan.
