Verona vs Monza Match Analysis & Prediction

The only team yet to secure a single Serie A win this season, Monza will face Hellas Verona at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Monday night, looking to finally get off the mark.
Ending a three-game losing run, Verona beat regional rivals Venezia just before the international break, fighting back from conceding an early goal to win 2-1 through Casper Tengstedt’s equaliser and an own goal by visiting goalkeeper Jesse Joronen.
That win edged Verona up to 12th position in the table, with nine points to their name, also continuing their improved scoring rate since Tengstedt and fellow striker Daniel Mosquera arrived in the summer.
Verona have now won two of their first four home matches in Serie A, losing the others, and they are yet to draw any games this season – either home or away, in both league and cup.
One of two teams – alongside Napoli – to have scored the most goals (nine) during the second half this season, Paolo Zanetti’s side certainly pose an increased threat after the break, meaning there is no need to panic if they fall behind against Monza.
Meanwhile, Alessandro Nesta’s side settled for one point in their final game before international football intervened, as substitute striker Dany Mota equalised at home to Roma and secured a 1-1 draw.
In isolation, that could be seen as a commendable result, but it extended Monza’s winless start to the league season to seven matches, leaving them in 19th position on four points.
Verona vs. Monza Head to head
In the previous 14 meetings between these two teams, Verona have claimed six victories while Monza have won four, and they have drawn in four. Monza have scored 18 goals and conceded 19 in the process.
