Hellas Verona vs Cremonese Match Analysis & Prediction
09/01/2023 8:30 pm
Hellas Verona host fellow strugglers Cremonese on Monday evening in Serie A, with the sides having posted just one league win between them this term.
Under new management, Hellas at least took a point away from Torino in their first fixture of 2023, but their visitors were denied a draw by conceding in stoppage time to Juventus.
After ending the 2022-23 Serie A season in 20th place following a club record 10 straight defeats, Hellas Verona returned to competitive action on Wednesday with a new head coach at the helm.
Hired to replace caretaker manager Salvatore Bocchetti, who now becomes his assistant at Stadio Bentegodi, ex-Chievo coach Marco Zaffaroni saw Milan Djuric’s header put Hellas in front against Torino. Still, his new side ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Bringing a slight glimmer of hope in a dismal season for the club, Djuric’s opener was his fifth headed goal from his last six strikes in Serie A, but the Gialloblu remain eight points adrift of safety nearing the halfway stage.”
Cremonese has only won one of their six Serie A meetings with Verona, and they are yet to win in the current comeback campaign after Wednesday’s defeat.
The team held Juventus goalless until the 91st minute on Wednesday but lost to Arkadiusz Milik’s strike in stoppage time, which extended their winless streak in Serie A back to 2004.
Cremonese has not been in Serie A for more than 20 years and is still looking for their first victory since returning to the top flight.
Hellas Verona vs. Cremonese Head to head
Both sides have eight games against each other with the hosts taking four wins while the visitors with two wins, and two draws.

Hellas Verona Team News
Marco Zaffaroni is unlikely to tinker much with the team that took a point home from Torino, particularly as Marco Faraoni and Kevin Lasagna remain short of full fitness.
One potential switch would see Darko Lazovic move back onto the right flank as cover for Faraoni, with Simone Verdi stepping into the Serbian’s advanced midfield role behind central striker Milan Djuric.

Cremonese Team News
Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers has hit the woodwork more times (three) than any other player in Serie A this season, and he has a 6.7% strike rate from shots taken so far.
His likely partner, David Okereke, has scored three away goals for Roma and a total of five goals overall, and Cristian Buonaiuto should support the pair at the Bentegodi.
