Hartlepool United vs Colchester Match Analysis & Prediction
28/01/2023 6:00 pm
Hartlepool United and Colchester United square off in League Two on Saturday afternoon. With both clubs looking to move away from the relegation zone, Hartlepool sits just two points clear of the bottom two, while Colchester is not much higher in 18th place, five points ahead of their opponents.
Hartlepool lost 5-0 at home to Stockport County on December 3, but since then, they have collected 10 points from seven matches. This run has included three wins, and Keith Curle’s side is now very much in contention for survival.
Two of the victories have come versus Rochdale, who occupy the bottom spot, while the other was by a 2-0 scoreline versus Crawley Town. Although Hartlepool lost at fourth-placed Carlisle United last time out, their players gave a good account of themselves in a 3-1 defeat.
Colchester has improved their form recently, earning 13 points in seven games to move away from the drop zone.
The U’s also came from behind to earn a draw with promotion-chasing Salford last time out, and there is a feeling that they are not far away from moving out of a relegation scrap.
Colchester has produced remarkable improvements away from their home ground, initially posting 10 defeats in 11 away fixtures.
This is before recording three consecutive victories–each against rivals at the wrong end of the table. Hartlepool will be wary of this record ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

Colchester Team News
Tom Dallison-Lisbon is likely to miss out for Colchester after being substituted in the first half of Tuesday’s game against Salford. New signing Fiacre Kelleher took his place and could start, particularly after getting on the scoresheet. Matt Jay may take John Akinde’s position, but the rest of the team might not change.
