Harrogate Town vs Nottingham Forest Match Analysis & Prediction

05/09/2023 9:45 pm

League Two side Harrogate Town will begin their 2023-24 EFL Trophy campaign with a home game against Nottingham Forest U21 on Tuesday night.
The hosts will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Barrow in the league on Saturday, while Forest U21 lost 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion U21 on Friday.
Harrogate actually started their 2023-24 campaign with back-to-back victories over Doncaster Rovers and Carlisle United in League Two and EFL Cup respectively.
However, they have struggled for results since, losing five of their last six matches across all competitions, including an 8-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the second round of the EFL Cup.
Simon Weaver’s side reached the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy in 2021-22, and they will be looking to make an impression in this season’s competition.
Harrogate will play in Northern Group C alongside Carlisle, Accrington Stanley and Forest U21, and Weaver’s side will be looking to make the perfect start to their campaign on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Forest U21 will enter this contest off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Brighton U21 on Friday, with Mark O’Mahony scoring the only goal of the game.
The Reds have played four matches this season in Premier League 2, opening their campaign with back-to-back 2-2 draws against Middlesbrough U21 and Norwich U21.
Warren Joyce’s side managed to record an impressive 2-0 victory over Arsenal U21 on August 28 ahead of the defeat to Brighton U21 last time out, and a total of five points from four matches has left them 12th in the table.
