Round 18 of the 2024 Swedish Allsvenskan season will see Hammarby and Brommapojkarna meet at the Tele2 Arena on Monday night.
Following a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Mjallby in their previous match, Hammarby picked up where they left off with a 4-1 win over Kalmar when the sides met at the Guldfageln Arena on Sunday.
Kim Hellberg’s side have now prevailed in three league matches on the bounce since drawing consecutive blanks in their first two games back from a mini break towards the end of June.
While Simon Skrabb’s late consolation strike last time out denied them a third successive clean sheet, Hammarby have overseen a remarkable turnaround in defence of late, with just two goals let in across their last seven league matches.
Hammarby’s form has seen them climb up to third in the Swedish Allsvenskan table, four points behind Djurgarden and a further six adrift of leaders and defending champions Malmo.
Meanwhile, Brommapojkarna ran riot in front of goal for the second game running en route to a comfortable 4-2 victory over an out-of-sorts Halmstad side in Saturday’s encounter at Grimsta IP.
That was a third victory in four league matches for Andreas Engelmark’s side either side of last month’s 2-0 defeat to their next opponents in this season’s reverse fixture.
With 13 games still left to play this season, Brommapojkarna are already up to 24 points, just nine short of their tally from a disappointing campaign last time out which ended in a bottom-three finish.
While De Maif are not in immediate danger of another relegation battle, they are just five points clear of the relegation zone, and their upcoming tough run of matches could see them sucked into the scrap for survival.
Nonetheless, Brommapojkarna’s newly-found attacking impetus, which has yielded eight goals across the last two matches, will inspire confidence heading into the contest against an opposing side who have lost just one of the last six competitive encounters.
Hammarby vs. Brommapojkarna Head to head
In the previous 22 meetings between these two teams, Hammarby have claimed 14 victories while Brommapojkarna have won eight. Hammarby have scored 41 goals and conceded 22 in the process.
