Go Ahead Eagles vs Vitesse Match Analysis & Prediction
13/11/2022 10:00 pm
Go Ahead Eagles will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Eridivisie to nine games when they welcome Vitesse on Sunday in the league’s final fixture before the World Cup and winter break.
There is just two points separating the two teams ahead of this contest, highlighting the competitiveness of the Dutch top flight, especially in the lower half of the table.
After losing their first league matches this season, Go Ahead Eagles must have been wary of the worst, but an eight-game run without defeat since that defeat to Feyenoord has seen them climb the league standings.
Rene Hake’s side now sit 11th in the Eredivisie table, having collected 14 points from their opening 13 games during their second season back at this level following promotion in the 2020-21 campaign.
Now with a home game as their final fixture before a two-month break, Go Ahead Eagles have an opportunity to finish 2022 on a good note in front of their home faithful at De Adelaarshorst.
Meanwhile, Vitesse are struggling so far this season after six successive seasons of finishing in the top seven in the Eredivisie, with head coach Phillip Cocu under pressure to change his side’s fortunes before the World Cup break.
A 2-2 draw with Ajax last time out was a good response to a 4-0 defeat at home to Sparta Rotterdam, another unacceptable performance at home where they have managed just one win in seven so far this season.
Only bottom-placed Volendam (35) have conceded more goals than Vitesse’s 28 after 13 games, with Cocu’s side only keeping a clean sheet twice this season, both in away victories.
Surprisingly, Vitesse can move above their hosts with a win on Sunday, with all three points having the potential of making the league standings look a whole lot better for them.

Vitesse Team News
Vitesse central defender Melle Meulensteen is a doubt after being forced off early on in the defeat to Sparta Rotterdam last weekend.
That means Ryan Flamingo will likely continue in the middle of the backline alongside Enzo Cornelisse, with Million Manhoef potentially keeping his place in the side following an impressive performance on Wednesday.
