Gibraltar vs Lithuania Match Analysis & Prediction
21/03/2024 10:45 pm
Gibraltar welcome Lithuania to southern Portugal for the first leg of their UEFA Nations League relegation playoff at Victoria Stadium on Thursday night.
This two-legged affair between two nations separated by 63 places in the FIFA World rankings will determine who drops into League D, and who will remain in League C.
Latvia and Estonia have gone up from League D, but there is just one relegation spot to be decided, and it will be played out here between League C’s poorest performing teams.
Cyprus and Belarus also finished bottom of their respective sections last time out, but both finishing on one point means Gibraltar and Lithuania are the teams to contest this playoff.
The victors will remain in League C and be matches up with Romania, Cyprus and Kosovo, while the losers will drop into League D and meet San Marino and Liechtenstein.
However, losing may not be too bad for either side, as the next World Cup qualifying section will provide a playoff spot to the winners of the next League D campaign, and it is much more likely these two nations will have a better chance in that company, as opposed to staying in League C.
Gibraltar vs. Lithuania Head to head
This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
