Valencia will be looking to extend their winning streak to four matches across all competitions when they travel to Coliseum Alfonso Perez to take on a struggling Getafe in their La Liga Matchday 28 tie on Saturday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Getafe continued their struggles this season when they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Espanyol at away last Saturday, with Leandro Cabrera and an own goal from Erick Cabaco sealing the deal for Espanyol. Getafe have now just won two of their last eight La Liga matches, picking up three draws while suffering three defeats in the process.
As a result Getafe have dropped into the 15th spot in the standings, where they sit just three points above the relegation zone. They are certainly in danger of being pulled into the relegation scrap, and another poor result on Saturday might leave them right inside the bottom three.
Therefore, they will be desperate to end their poor form as they look to stay out of the danger zone. They will draw confidence from their strong home form this season having claimed 21 points from 13 matches and they recorded a 3-0 victory against their visitors in the corresponding fixture last season.
Meanwhile Valencia have been in high spirits recently with the side claiming a 3-1 victory against Granada at home last weekend, with Goncalo Guedes, Maxi Gomez and Carlos Soler getting on the scoresheet.
The win extended their winning streak to three matches as they were coming off a 1-0 win against Mallorca in la Liga and another 1-0 win against Bilbao in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie. The win saw them progress to the final after claiming a 2-1 victory on aggregate.
Valencia have already improved on their last season’s campaign as they finished in 13th last term, but are ninth this term with a total of 36 points from their 27 matches, eight points outside the European places.
They will therefore be looking to continue their winning streak as they seek to maintain their push for a European finish. They will draw confidence from their recent form and they edged Getafe 1-0 in their reverse fixture earlier this season. Although they have failed to win at Coliseum Alfonso Perez in their last three visits.
