Rayo Vallecano make a trip to the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez to take on Getafe, as they will be looking to continue their push for a top-half finish in the La Liga table on Saturday.
The hosts have recently opened the gap between themselves and the relegation zone, while Rayo Vallecano have recently climbed back to 11th courtesy of two wins and a draw from their last three matches.
Getafe had seemingly put themselves in a good position with back-to-back draws against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao, followed by a 1-0 win over Mallorca at the beginning of April.
However, that was succeeded by fixtures against Real Madrid and Villarreal consecutively, and two defeats meant that some of their previous efforts was undone as they slipped close to the bottom three.
Now off the back of a goalless draw with fifth-placed Real Betis, Quique Sanchez Flores’ side sit five points above the drop zone with four games to play, and they will hope to further increase that gap at the weekend with safety now within touching distance.
Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches in La Liga, having recently bounced back from a dismal run of form.
Andoni Iraola’s side began the season in impressive style following their promotion from the second division, as they briefly broke into top four in December with nine wins and 30 points from the opening 18 top flight games.
However, Los Franjirrojos then took a sharp dip, as they had to endure a 13-game winless run in the league straight after the turn of the year, only managing to pick up four points in that time.
Rayo Vallecano were finally able to put an end to that poor run, claiming a first La Liga win of 2022 as they defeated Espanyol 1-0.
