Galatasaray vs Ankaragucu Match Analysis & Prediction
04/01/2023 8:00 pm
Turkish Super Lig leaders Galatasaray will be looking to extend their winning streak to six matches when they play host to Ankaragucu at the NEF Stadium on Wednesday.
After experiencing their lowest ever finish in the Turkish Super Lig by ending last season in 13th place, few could have foreseen Galatasaray’s strong early campaign form coming this time around.
However, after winning the title with Istanbul Basaksehir in the 2019-20 season, Okan Buruk has made himself an instant hero at their city rivals in a matter of months after being appointed during the summer.
Five successive victories have moved Galatasaray one point clear of Fenerbahce at the top of the division ahead of the midweek’s round of fixtures, with Baris Yilmaz’s injury-time goal providing them with a vital win away to Sivasspor last Thursday.
As such, Buruk will expect his side to claim all three points against Ankaragucu in midweek, especially with their arch rivals having an opportunity to overtake them 24 hour prior.
Meanwhile, Ankaragucu will be content with the start thet have made to life back in the Turkish top flight having been promoted last season.
Despite Mustafa Dalci, who guided them to the second tier’s title last season, handing in his resignation in August, Ankaragucu head into the midweek action one point clear of the relegation zone.
Former Hatayspor manager Omer Erdogan has somewhat steadied the ship, although he would have been hugely disappointed by his side’s 2-1 defeat to bottom-placed Umraniyespor last Tuesday.
That defeat has left Ankaragucu in a hugely vulnerable position ahead of their trip to Galatasaray, with positive results for a few of the sides below them potentially dragging them below the dotted line by the end of the week.
Galatasaray vs. Ankaragucu Head to head
