Frosinone vs Roma Match Analysis & Prediction

18/02/2024 8:00 pm

Roma continue their pursuit of a top-four finish in Serie A on Sunday, as they make a short trip to Stadio Benito Stirpe to face free-falling Frosinone.
Roma recently suffered their first defeat since club legend Daniele De Rossi returned to Rome as head coach. They led twice against league leaders Inter Milan last weekend but ultimately suffered a 4-2 defeat at Stadio Olimpico.
The Giallorossi are rarely beaten on home turf, but in addition to winning on just one of their last nine European matches on the road, they have also lost more than half of their away games in Serie A so far.
With former boss Jose Mourinho now sniping from the sidelines, De Rossi’s new approach has helped Romelu Lukaku and co score at least twice in each of his first four matches in charge, including a 2-1 victory over bottom-placed Salernitana that ended a run of three straight away losses.
Roma now seek back-to-back Serie A victories on their travels for the first time since October 2022, and having won all five of their previous top-flight encounters with Frosinone, they certainly have history on their side.
Including October’s reverse fixture – when Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini were on the scoresheet in Rome – Frosinone actually trail regional rivals 14-3 on aggregate across those five encounters.
Former Roma player and coach Eusebio Di Francesco will again try to plot his former club’s downfall on Sunday, but the odds are stacked against his due to Frosinone’s recent run of results.
No team has collected fewer points than Frosinone since the start of December, with a tally of just five, and they have also suffered no fewer than eight defeats during that time.
Despite being one of three teams without an away victory in Serie A this season, following last week’s 5-1 defeat to Fiorentina, Frosinone have won half of their league matches at Stadio Stirpe so far. That has been enough to keep them clear of the relegation zone for now.
Frosinone vs. Roma Head to head
Roma have won each of the six previous encounters between these two teams, scoring 18 goals while conceding just four.
