France vs Poland Match Analysis & Prediction
04/12/2022 6:00 pm
France and Poland will battle for a place in the quarter-final of the 2022 World Cup when they face off at the Al Thumama Stadium in their last 16 tie on Sunday evening.
France beat both Australia (4-1) and Denmark (2-1) in their opening two Group D fixtures, but ended the group-stage with an unexpected 1-0 defeat to Tunisia in their final group fixture.
Despite the final group day defeat the reigning champions managed to finish top of Group D, thanks to their superior goal-difference. They did manage to break the “reigning champions curse’ where previous champions have failed to get out of the group stages. They will surely be eyeing to retain the mega trophy and should fancy their chances of making the quarter-finals.
Poland managed to make it to the last 16, thanks to a goal-difference as they were level on four points with third-placed Mexico in Group C. The Poles have not impressive in the competitions and we we do not believe that Robert Lewandowski and Co. are capable of spoiling les Tricolores’ party in Doha.
However, with the likes on Lewandowski in the squad, the Poles can park a bunch on their day and should not be easily written off here.
France vs. Poland Head to head
Both sides have met in seven encounters since 1996 with France claiming three victories, while Poland have won once and there have been three draws.
