Fortaleza vs Botafogo Match Analysis & Prediction

24/11/2023 1:00 am

Botafogo will be looking to return to winning ways and climb back to the top of the Brasileiro Serie A table when they travel to Estadio Governador Placido Aderaldo Castelo to face Fortaleza on Friday.
The hosts will also be seeking to end a long winless run as they endeavour to propel themselves into the top half of the table.
Fortaleza extended their miserable winless run across all competitions to eight matches when they suffered a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Cruzeiro last time out.
An 80th-minute goal from Bruno Rodrigues was enough for the visitors to claim all three points and concemn Fortaleza to their 14th Serie A defeat of the season.
Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s side had hopes of securing a top-four finish earlier this season, but their poor run of form over the last month has seen them slip down to 12th place in the table, 14 points behind the top six and 16 adrift of RB Bragantino in fourth with just five matches remaining.
Botafogo are also not in the highest of spirits heading into Friday’s contest, as they have failed to win any of their last six matches across all competitions, while they have won just two of their last 13 games since the end of August.
Interim manager Lucio Flavio initially steadied the ship following his arrival in earlier October before suffering four successive defeats, but their losing run was brought to an end in their most recent game just over a week ago when the played out a 2-2 draw with Bragantino.
O Glorioso were on course to claim maximum points through goals from Victor Sa and Carlos Eduardo, but Thiago Borbas scored his second goal of the game in the sixth minute of the second-half stoppage time to salvage a point for Bragantino in dramatic circumstances.
With five league matches remaining, Botafogo are still in contention to win their first Serie A title since 1995 as they sit just two points behind new leaders and reigning champions Palmeiras, who have played a game more.
Fortaleza vs. Botafogo Head to head
In the 11 previous meetings between these two teams, Fortaleza have claimed three victories while Botafogo have won seven, and they have drawn once. Botafogo have scored 17 goals and conceded 10 in the process.
