Fleetwood Town vs Morecambe Match Analysis & Prediction
23/09/2024 10:00 pm
Fleetwood Town will be looking to secure a second straight League Two win when they play host to Morecambe at Highbury Stadium on Monday.
The hosts are currently occupying 14th position in the league standings, while the visitors are languishing at the foot of the table after failing to win any of their six League Two games.
Charlie Adam, who was appointed in December, was unable to save Fleetwood from relegation from League One last season, but he has still been given the opportunity to lead the side back into the third tier.
The Cod Army have proven to be a tough team to beat in the opening stages of the season, having won two, drawn two and lost one of their first five league matches.
Fleetwood gave up a two-goal lead in their most recent game against Carlisle United, but they still managed to leave Brunton Park with maximum points courtesy of Danny Mayor’s 66th-minute winner.
After securing a 3-2 victory on the road, Fleetwood will now return to Highbury Stadium, where they are yet to concede in the league this season after beating Grimsby Town 1-0 and playing out a goalless draw with Gillingham.
On the other hand, having picked up one point from six matches, Morecambe are one of two sides yet to secure a win in League Two this season.
Derek Adams’ side kicked off the 2024-25 League Two campaign with four successive 1-0 defeats to Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers, Newport County and Crewe Alexandra.
The Shrimps looked set to fall to another defeat in their most recent encounter with Colchester after giving up a narrow lead to trail 3-1 by the 64th minute.
However, Morecambe, who were reduced to ten men in the first half, mounted a late fightback to snatch a point through Callum Jones’ penalty and Tom Flanagan’s 88th-minute own goal.
While it may have only been a point, Morecambe will hope the confidence gained from the late fightback can inspire them to end an 11-game winless league run.
Fleetwood Town vs. Morecambe Head to head
In the previous 12 meetings between these two teams, Fleetwood have claimed six victories while Morecambe have won three, and they have drawn in three. Morecambe have scored 11 goals and conceded 18 in the process.
