Fiorentina vs Torino Match Analysis & Prediction

Separated by just three points in Serie A, mid-table clubs Fiorentina and Torino meet in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday.
While three decades have passed since Torino last lifted the trophy, Fiorentina’s most recent cup success came in 2001, so both will aim to secure a place in the semi-finals against either Roma or Cremonese.
Occupying 12 place in the table following a run of just one win from six league matches, Fiorentina’s campaign may well be defined by their progress in knockout competitions, given the growing distance between them and Serie A’s top six.
After playing out a 1-1 draw at Lazio last weekend, Fiorentina are 13 points adrift of sixth-placed Roma, and even a repeat of last season’s top-seven finish seems a stretch given their lask of firepower.
Having already overcome Sampdoria in the last 16, I Viola now aim to defy faltering league form and reach the final four once again. They were eliminated by Juventus in the semi-finals last year.
After knocking out Milan in the last 16, Torino were then beaten by Spezia but won in Florence six days later, and a 2-2 draw in Empoli was warmly welcome at the weekend.
Despite having taken four points from successive matches in Tuscany, Torino have now kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 away matches, although that solitary shutout did come against Fiorentina.
Any chances of Ivan Juric’s side achieving European qualification through Serie A also seem slim, but having beaten Juventus after sweeping past Palermo and Cittadella in the opening rounds, Coppa Italia glory could yet be theirs this season.
Fiorentina vs. Torino Head to head
In the 42 previous meetings between these two sides across all competitions, Fiorentina have claimed 18 victories while Torino have won nine, and they have drawn in 15. Torino have scored 41 goals and conceded 61 in the process.

Torino Team News
Injured Pietro Pellegri and suspended centre-back Kofi Djidji join longer-term Torino absentee Valentino Lazaro in missing the trip to Tuscany.
However, Ola Aina recently returned and is in contention to start on either flank of Juric’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation, with Michel Adopo also likely to be involved.
