Nordsjaelland vs Lyngby Match Analysis & Prediction
11/08/2024 3:00 pm
Two teams that have made vastly different starts to the 2024-25 Danish Superliga season meet in round four as FC Nordsjaelland host Lyngby Boldklub at the Right to Dream Park on Sunday.
Despite a relatively underwhelming pre-season which saw them lose back-to-back matches against Eredivisie sides AZ Alkmaar and FC Twente by a combined score of 8-2, Nordsjaelland began their league campaign with a 3-0 victory over Aalborg.
Buoyed by their emphatic opening-day win, Jens Olsen’s side then played out a 2-2 draw against defending champions Midtjylland in the subsequent game on July 27.
Nordsjaelland got themselves back to winning ways last time out with a narrow 1-0 victory over Vejle on Monday to move up the league table to second place, one point behind leaders Midtjylland, who have played a game more.
The Tigers have been solid at both ends of the pitch so far with two clean sheets and just two goals conceded from three matches, while their tally of six goals scored is only bettered by three teams in the entire division.
Meanwhile, Lyngby just about avoided relegation last time out, and based on the evidence of their first three matches so far, another frenetic battle for top-flight survival could be on the cards.
Morten Karlsen’s side were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat in their season opener against FC Copenhagen, before securing their first point through a 1-1 draw against SonderjyskE.
Lyngby came away empty-handed from their most recent game against Brondby, which ended in a 2-0 defeat on Sunday, leaving them bottom but two in the league standings.
De Kongebla are one of four teams without a win this season and will need to get themselves back on track, but with successive matches against two of last season’s top four to come, they could be in for further misery.
Nordsjaelland vs. Lyngby Head to head
In the previous 26 meetings between these two teams, Nordsjaelland have claimed 12 victories while Lyngby have won six, and they have drawn in eight. Lyngby have scored 23 goals and conceded 41 in the process.
