Dallas vs Vancouver Whitecaps Match Analysis & Prediction

17/03/2024 3:30 am

Dallas will be looking to avoid a third successive MLS defeat in the regular season for the first time since 2021, as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Monday at Totota Stadium.
The Toros suffered their second successive defeat in this competition a week ago, losing 2-1 to the New York Red Bulls, while Vancouver secured their first win of 2024, beating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0.
After a solid pening to the season, claiming a narrow 2-1 victory over the Quakes on matchday one, Dallas enter this contest in a bit of a slump.
The Toros have struggled defensively in recent games, conceding multiple goals in their previous two defeats, the first time they have done so in the MLS regular season since allowing four goals in two encounters from late August to early September 2023.
In all three of their 2024 regular season matches, Nico Estevez’s side have conceded the opening goal, while they have only drawn first blood in one of their previous nine matches played in this competition, dating back to last year.
Meanwhile, even without Vanni Sartini again last time out, the Whitecaps took care of business in San Jose, claiming their first win at PayPal Park since the 2018 MLS season.
Sartini will be suspended for four more matches, but they are doing just fine without him, securing four points from their two domestic matches this year, their best start to a regular season since 2021 (four points in two games).
Should they avoid defeat here, it would mark the first time this team would go unbeaten in their first three MLS matches since 2014, when they secured at least a point in their opening four league games.
The Caps have scored in nine straight away matches domestically, picking up a point or more on seven of those occasions dating back to the previous campaign.
Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps Head to head
In the 30 previous meetings between these two teams, Dallas have claimed 12 victories while Vancouver have won 10, and they have drawn in eight. Vancouver have scored 40 goals and conceded 39 in the process.
