FC Augsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen Match Analysis & Prediction

03/02/2023 10:30 pm

Bayer Leverkusen travels to Augsburg on Friday night to return to winning ways. Meanwhile, Augsburg finds themselves two points above the Bundesliga’s relegation places after a heavy defeat last time.
Despite having more shots, corners, and possession than their opponents last weekend, Augsburg fell to a 3-1 defeat away to high-flying Freiburg.
Michael Gregoritsch and Lucas Holer scored either side of Mergim Berisha’s penalty to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Enrico Maassen’s side pushed hard for an equalizer after the break. Still, Philipp Lienhart’s late strike settled any growing nerves within Europa-Park Stadion with only five minutes of normal time remaining.
However, Karim Adeyemi’s first-half goal gave Dortmund a foothold in the game, and they held on to it long enough to get all three points.
Leverkusen dominated possession but was made to pay for their lack of accuracy in front of the goal. The result moves Dortmund 10 points clear of Bayer Leverkusen in the race for fourth place with eight games remaining.
