Dagenham & Redbridge vs Eastleigh Match Analysis & Prediction
13/12/2022 10:45 pm
Dagenham & Redbridge will be looking to take advantage of one of their games in hand in the National League when they play host to Eastleigh at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Tuesday.
Although the 13th-placed hosts currently sit behind their ninth-placed opponents in the standings by two points, they have played three matches fewer than the visitors.
As a result of their participation in the FA Cup, Dagenham & Redbridge have some catching up to do in the National League having played the joint-least amount of games in the division.
Their FA Cup exploits came to an end last week as they went down 3-2 in a replay with Gillingham, cruelly conceding in the last minute, but they will target success in the FA Trophy when they host Uxbridge at the weekend.
However, as it stands, full focus is on trying to get back on track in the league, having seen a three-game run of victories ended by defeat to previous bottom side Torquay United.
That loss came as a significant setback for Daryl McMahon and his side, who would have been sitting in eighth place with a victory rather that in the bottom half of the table.
However, it represents just their second home defeat in 11 league matches during the 2022-23 campaign, and there will be belief that they can record a seventh home win against Eastleigh on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Eastleigh have participated in one of the National League matches to survive the weather at the weekend, suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Wrexham.
Although they remained competitive, two first-half goals proved decisive for the title-chasing visitors, and Eastleigh find themselves under pressure to retain their place in the playoff chase.
They trail by two points as it stands, but the Spitfires have played the most amount of matches of any team in the top 13 in the division.
Lee Bradbury’s side also possess a very bad away record in the division this season, picking up just five points and losing eight of their 11 matches on their travels, and they will be determined to record a positive result on Tuesday before they close the year will a relatively welcoming fixture, against 18th-placed Dorking Wanderers.
