Dagenham & Redbridge and Eastleigh return to National League action on Tuesday night after contrasting fortunes in the FA Trophy over the weekend.

The Daggers suffered a 2-0 loss to Maidenhead United, while the Spitfires advanced to the last 16 after recording a 1-0 win over Braintree Town.

Dagenham & Redbridge endured more disappointment on Saturday, as Maidenhead United progressed to the last-16 of the FA Trophy at the expense of Daryl McMahon’s side.

Shawn McCoulsky took two minutes to break the deadlock for the visitors before winning a penalty shortly afterward, and Charlee Adams made no mistake from 12 yards to give the visitors a healthy two-goal cushion just before half-time.

Dagenham remains seventh in the National League table with 38 points from their 24 games and will look forward to this weekend’s league fixture against Aldershot Town, which is sandwiched between upcoming cup ties against Braintree Town and Barrow AFC.

Following a 1-0 victory over Braintree Town in front of their fans on Saturday, Danny Whitehall’s cannon of an effort struck the underside of the crossbar before going in the dying embers, Eastleigh’s FA Trophy dreams are still alive.

The Spitfires, who boast two wins from their last eight National League contests and have failed to win any of their last 11 fifth-tier games on the road—losing five of their last six—can still qualify for the playoffs if they win the FA Trophy.
