Dagenham & Redbridge vs Eastleigh Match Analysis & Prediction
17/01/2023 10:45 pm
Having suffered contrasting fortunes in the FA Trophy over the weekend, Dagenham & Redbridge and Eastleigh return to National League action at Victoria Road on Tuesday.
While the hosts were eliminated from the FA Trophy following a 2-0 defeat to Maidenhead United, the visitors progressed to the last 16 after claiming a 1-0 victory over Braintree Town.
The exit from the EFL Trophy means that Dagenham only have their promotion charge to think about for the remainder of the season, and a 2-0 victory over Aldershot Town last week means that their playoff destiny is still in their own hands.
Having spent seven years outside of the Football League, the Daggers are itching for a return but are still looking over their shoulder, as Bromley, Wealdstone and Eastleigh are all within touchig distance.
Six out of Dagenham’s last eight National League matches have ended in victory, but the two exceptions in the period were home defeats in front of their own supporters, and Eastleigh have all the motivation they need to inflict another Victoria Road loss upon their seventh-tier hosts.
Eastleigh’s dreams of FA Trophy glory are still alive following a 1-0 victory over Braintree Town at home on Saturday, with Danny Whitehall’s effort striking the underside of the crossbar before going in eventually.
Victory in the cup was the perfect comeback from a 3-1 defeat to Wealdstone in league action two weekends ago, which derailed Eastleigh’s playoff bid that little bit more as they sit 10th in the standings, but only three points separate them from their upcoming opponents.
Lee Bradbury’s side can only boast two wins from their last eight National League matches, while their poor away form has seen them fail to win any of their last 11 fifth-tier games away from home, losing five of their last six.
Dagenham & Redbridge vs. Eastleigh Head to head
In the previous 12 meetings between these two sides, Dagenham have claimed five victories while Eastleigh have won four, and they have drawn in three. Eastleigh have scored 11 goals and conceded 15 in the process.
